CHURCHES must first rid themselves of corruption if the vice is to be wiped out in the rest of the country, Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi has noted.

According to him, corruption, a sugarcoated term for stealing, had become a disease.

“The church must examine itself. If there is stealing in the rest of the country, there must be stealing in the church,” Orombi said.

He was speaking at the graduation ceremony of 14 students at the African Bible University in Lubowa, a Kampala suburb on Saturday.

However, Orombi did not cite any specific corrupt church or clergy.
Orombi told guests that Ugandans dedicated more time to social activities than to work.

“We should not waste time because we shall one day have to account for every single minute of our life before God,” Orombi said.

He reminded the graduands that the journey ahead of them would be tedious.
The course duration was four years.

Speaking at the same function, the embattled Inspector General of Government, Faith Mwondha, said Christians needed to re-examine their lives and turn to God.

“We should not just say we are born again because we want to be favoured,” Mwondha said.

“I don’t care about man’s judgment and I will always say that they don’t have the capacity to judge me. Who are they to judge me?” she asked.
