THE parish of St. Luke Church in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb, needs sh550m to complete its church building, officials have said.

This was revealed yesterday during a fundraising ceremony presided over by the Archbishop of Kampala diocese, the Reverend Henry Luke Orombi.

The congregation raised sh60m in cash and pledges.

Orombi appealed to Christians to give generously towards the building of the house of God.

The deputy speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, who represented the First Lady, Janet Museveni, as guest of honour, asked parents to take their children for immunisation.

Mrs. Museveni contributed sh5m towards the completion of the church.

Several items were auctioned including a portrait of the church which fetched sh15m and a photograph of the late Bishop Jonan Luwuum that fetched sh5m.

Ben Manyindo, the chairperson of the construction commitee said the church was expected to be completed in October.
