GUIDED by highly regarded South African tactician Chester Williams who knows the opposition inside out, Rugby Cranes should be able to conquer the gigantic Tunisians in the (Confederation of Africa Rugby) CAR semi-final/World Cup qualifier at the Kampala Rugby Club today.

Chester, a 1995 World Cup winner with the Springboks, had a six-month stint with the Tunisian team and has devised a strategy to neutralise the opposition.

The confidence exhibited by Chester should offer Ugandans hope given that he has been with the Cranes for three weeks and he is one the best coaches in Africa.

“We have worked on all the departments and the boys have shown great improvement and their mood is great and that also gives me confidence,” Chester remarked after the final training session on Thursday evening.

Chester added: “I know Tunisia has got a strong physical team but we are ready for them. I have got a fast and strong team that will counter their plans.”

His game plan was laid down as he named the final squad.

“Scott Oluoch is much better at position 13, Joel Kimuli is number one kicker and will go for all kicks until he can kick no more then [Anthony] Kinene takes over,” Chester stated.

Tunisia is coached by South African Danie De Dilliers, who has worked with Chester back at home and in Tunis.

Dilliers said he had studied the Ugandan team and knows what to expect from Chester’s team.

“We respect Uganda and we have done our preparations knowing it’s going to be tough. The defending champions always go in with confidence. We play an all round game — we can play if they get physical and an open game as well. We can adapt to any kind of game which makes it easy. Chester brings a lot of experience to Uganda and they benefited a lot,” Dilliers warned.

The Tunisian coach predicted a spectacular game in which he will for the time come up against Williams as a coach.

The return leg will be held in Tunisia in two weeks. The winner of the CAR Cup will make the 2011 World Cup.

Namibia and Ivory Coast will play the other semi-final.

uganda telecom, Western Union — that injected in sh100m — Bell Lager, UAP Insurance and G4S have sponsored the Cranes.

The game will be preceded by the launch of Uganda Rugby Union’s Corporation Social Responsibility campaign.

URU chairman William Blick appealed to fans to come along with garments to donate to victims of the war in Northern Uganda.

The Cranes will also have an added incentive to win: Blick promised a bonus amouting to 30% of the day’s gate collections if they plunder a victory this afternoon.
