Local music promoters are wondering if singer Pastor Wilson Bugembe has lost it. And who would blame them?

Local music promoters are wondering if singer Pastor Wilson Bugembe has lost it. And who would blame them?

Apparently Bugembe, by far the biggest selling local gospel artiste, with an incredible crossover appeal to secular audiences, has turned down deals of sh20m and sh15m respectively for an album launch concert by two top promoters.

Promoters usually pay artistes a round fee upfront for their launch concerts. They then promote the event and, with the help of sponsors, make a profit from gate collections.

Snoops say Balaam Barugahare of Balaam Enterprises (who promoted Iryn Namubiru’s launch) and Bobkins Kibirige of Kibo Media were turned down for Bugembe’s upcoming Kani album launch. Instead, we hear, the good pastor ‘donated’ the launch to comedian Paddy Bitama of Amarula Family, for free!

Apparently, Bitama attends the pastor’s church. With a full house expected to attend, the funny man must be laughing all the way to the bank.
