Rapist jailed for life

The High Court in Luwero has sentenced a domestic servant to life imprisonment for raping his 78-year-old mistress. The woman later died from the injuries that were inflicted on her during the incident.

The High Court in Luwero has sentenced a domestic servant to life imprisonment for raping his 78-year-old mistress. The woman later died from the injuries that were inflicted on her during the incident.
Justice Benjamin Kabiito convicted Isaac Bulani, 34, a resident of Nkozi village in Nakaseke district during a High Court session on Monday. Bulani was also sentenced to another 15 years for manslaughter.
Prosecution told court that at around 10:00pm on April 5, 2007, Bulani raped Victoria Nabagesera whom he found at her home.
The victim, who sustained a fracture of the thigh bone during the attack, died of internal bleeding at Nakaseke Hospital four days later.
Nabagesera’s son, Lawrence Musisi, said he found her at her home lying on the ground with her clothes lifted to the thighs. Nabagesera told him that Bulani had raped her.
