Ebonies to visit Hollywood

FOR a Ugandan drama group to take 30 of its members on holiday overseas, its pockets must sure be heavy. After their holiday in Dubai and Europe last year, the Ebonies are set for a trip to the US.

FOR a Ugandan drama group to take 30 of its members on holiday overseas, its pockets must sure be heavy. After their holiday in Dubai and Europe last year, the Ebonies are set for a trip to the US.

Departing on July 28 aboard Emirates Air, 30 members of the group will experience the grandeur of Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York. In L.A, they will stay in Hollywood, where they will visit Paramount, Universal, Warner Brothers and Walt Disney film studios.

“The studio visits are to teach us how Hollywood movies and TV series are made, ahead of the launch of a new Ebonies TV series next year,” says Ebonies’ publicist, Dick Kasolo, who will accompany them on the trip.

The group will visit Madonna, Denzel Washington, Julia Roberts, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion.

They will also visit Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, as well as the world famous Kodak Theatre, which hosts the Oscar Academy movie awards.

The Ebonies will tour Disneyland and Six Flags Magic Mountain for rollercoaster rides. In Vegas, the Ebonies, for a sh550,000 ticket each, will attend Beyonce Knowles’s last stage performance on August 2 at Wynn Hotel, before the icon concentrates on acting and family.

The group, which has attained passes to watch a stage production of Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway and interact with its actors and producers, will also attend Jubilee, one of the longest running stage shows in Vegas, and Circue de Soleil Mystique, a renowned circus and theatre event.

In New York, they will visit Broadway, to watch Mama Mia. They will also visit the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Time Square and the UN Headquarters.

While on the tour, the group will also film some scenes for their upcoming plays. Tonight and tomorrow, the Ebonies will put on farewell performances at Theatre La Bonita, with plays: Star Trouble: Guyingidde, and Romantic Night: Betrayal.
