THE recent inaugural Fashion Nite at the Industrial Area-based Club T1 attracted a number of the country’s renowned fashion gurus. From the proceedings of the night, it looks like a big regular event on Uganda’s social scene has been born.

The event featured a collection of lady’s garments from Pioneer Mall boutiques, showcased by models from Sketch Agency. The catwalk was exciting with impressive designs and beautiful models.

Far from the usual fashion nights where guests are bored with the monotony of fashion, at the Red Nite, the fashion show was a multi-chaptered adventure with energised performances from artistes like Toolman and Rena (formerly of Dream Galz) as well as a beer party. Revellers did not feel cheated — the sh20,000 entry fee was fully utilised.

Among the guests was MP Odonga Otto and innumerable showbiz celebrities. The show’s weakness was that there was no particular designer to showcase his or her style. The show was a mishmash of styles and lacked focus.

The club’s manager, Apollo Natukunda, said Fashion Nite will be hosted every third Saturday of the month, with top fashion houses taking turns to showcase.
