HOSTS Progressive Citizens, St Marys’ Kitende and Equator College continued with their winning form on day-two of the U-16 championship with victories over Centa, Giovanni and McLister in Mukono yesterday.

The championship that has attracted 16 teams from across the country save for northern Uganda enters quarterfinals today before the semifinals on Thursday and the final on Friday.

Organisers FUFA hopes to use the championship to pick players to be groomed into the national ranks.

Old Kampala SS who were the inaugural winners in 2006 started their campaign on a faulty note with a 2-0 loss to Bishop Nankyama yesterday while defending champions Manafwa High School did not turn up.

While opening the competition Tuesday, FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa promised the winning team a set of uniforms and sh2m, the second will also walk away with a set of uniforms and sh1.5m, while the third team wins sh1m.
