THE injury hit Rugby Cranes squad continued to collapse yesterday as two senior players were ruled out of the team that departs today for the Elgon Cup against Kenya on Saturday.

Flanker Joel Anguyo and fly-half Chris Lubanga, key figures in the team, are not fit for the first leg in which Uganda faces Kenya in Nairobi.

Anguyo (knee) and Lubanga (thigh muscle) aggravated their injuries in Monday’s training session at Kampala Club.

Coach Yayiro Kasasa was a disappointed man as the injury list grew long in the face of a tough fixture.

“Anguyo and Lubanga are ruled out for the away leg and shall only be considered for the return leg,” Kasasa remarked.

Mathias Ochwo, Moses Soita, Paul Kabazi, Bishop Onen and Brian Odong are all undergoing physiotherapy and will be subject to a late fitness test.

Meanwhile, IceMark Africa has injected sh15m in the rugby union to cater for the women team’s travel, accommodation and players allowances.

“We ran to our other friends IceMark and they responded positively with sh15m for the women home and away expenses,” rugby country manager Jacob Bukenya confirmed. Hash fuel company has also offered fuel for vehicles that will transport both fans and teams to Nairobi.

Both the women and men’s teams leave today by road.
