- TORORO
A seven-month-old baby died on Monday when fire gutted a grass-thatched hut at Osukuru village in Osukuru sub-county. The district officer in charge of crime, James Wamunyerere, said Annet Nyapendi, the mother, left the baby with her two other children aged three and five in the hut and went to the nearby market.The two children tampered with the candle and when fire started, ran out leaving the sleeping baby behind.

Man escapes lynching

A man escaped being lynched by angry residents who allegedly caught him defiling his daughter. Waiswa Walukendege, 40, of Bupadhengo in Nawanyago sub-county, was allegedly found defiling his 14-year-old daughter at their home by neighbours. Residents collected firewood to burn him but were stopped by the Police. The girl said it was the second time her father was defiling her.
