Deputy RDC raps leaders
JINJA-The deputy resident district commissioner, Apollo Bwebale, has urged Mpumudde-Kimaka and Nalufenya division councillors to prioritise service delivery above self. He said the councillors discussed allowance increases instead of delivering what was expected of them. Bwebale was speaking at the passing of the sh709m division budget presented by the finance secretary, Grace Apio Julu, on Friday. Earlier, a section of councillors had threatened not to approve the budget unless their allowances were increased.

Sh12b budget for Bududa
BUDUDA-The district has passed a sh12b budget for the financial year 2009/2010. This indicates a sh3b increment from last year’s budget. While presenting the budget to the council at the district chambers, the finance secretary, Michael Wanditi, said the health sector took priority. It was followed by education, works and production. Wanditi said the district expected to realise sh10b from grants, sh927m from donors and sh432m from local revenue collections. About sh2b would be remitted to the sub-counties and Bududa town council to fund development projects, he added.
