FORMER URA FC striker Martin Muwanga completed his one-year transfer deal to join former league champions KCC yesterday to the relief of club coach Sam Ssimbwa.
Ssimbwa has been struggling to unearth the right attacking combination for the club.
Muwanga’s arrival provides some hope to KCC’s attack, that lost established strikers Brian Umony and Robert Ssentongo.
Despite hailing themselves for the signing of Mike Sserumaga, Emma Balyejusa, Diego Kiiza, Patrick Ssenfuka, Enos Kikonyogo, Jimmy Mukubya, Derrick Walulya and Sam Ssenoga, the tax collectors feel Muwanga’s exit could wreck their soccer season that starts with a Super Cup tie against SC Villa on Saturday.
“Martin (Muwanga) has left us and that’s a huge gap to fill. We have done well in the transfers but now need a recognised striker to match expectations,†URA midfielder Patrick Ochan said yesterday.
Saturday’s Super Cup that pits league champions URA and Kakungulu Cup winners Villa, is a curtain raiser for the new season that starts on September 19.
