ARUA-People who are suffering, or have suffered from mental disorders must be given equal opportunities with the normal ones, members of Mental Health Uganda have urged. The organisation’s programmes officer, Mohammad Kyeyune, recently said the formerly mentally ill persons were discriminated against by employers and in courts of laws. Drug abuse and alcoholism were identified as the major causes of mental health problems in West Nile.

Sh15b budget passed
AMURU-The district council on Friday passed a sh15.8b budget for the 2009/10 financial year. The finance secretary, Patrick Okello Oryema, said about sh13.7b would come from government grants, sh1.9b from the donors and about sh127m from local revenue. Okello said resettling the internally displaced people was their priority.
