New UNAA president popular in the US

EDITOR—It has been claimed that Moses Wilson, the new president of the Uganda North American Association (UNAA), is “a hitherto little-known Ugandan based in California.”

This is not true. He is very well known among Ugandans in North America and that is precisely why he was recently elected to lead their organisation.

Moses Wilson has an illustrious background. On his paternal side, he is the great grandson of Sir George Wilson, who was a deputy commissioner of Uganda in the early 1900s. His father was the renowned evangelist, Rev John Wilson, whose life was prematurely ended during the Idi Amin era.

On his maternal side, he is the great grandson of the wealthy chief Ham Mukasa, who was the Sekiboobo (Saza chief) of Kyaggwe County for so many years at the beginning of the last century.

His relatives include the Sabasajja Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Mutebi II, Omumbejja Nnalinya (Princess Royal) Dorothy Nassolo, the Kawalya Kaggwas of Lungujja, the Muliras of Namirembe, the Nagendas of Namutamba, among many well-known others.

I congratulate Moses Wilson for winning the UNAA presidency.
