RUGBY league champions MTN Heathens and G4S Pirates over the weekend booked a Uganda Cup semifinal clash due on Saturday.

Heathens, who whitewashed Hima Impis 63-0 in the second quarterfinal game, set a clash with the league runners-up Pirates that saw off Toyota Buffaloes 41-26 in the third quarterfinal.

The two clubs will rekindle past memories when they battle at Kampala Club. Pirates beat Heathens 9-3 in the first leg of the league before the latter hit back with a 25-14 victory in the second leg when Pirates lost their grip on the league title campaign.

“We lost the league but we are not ready to lose the Uganda Cup too to the same club,” Moses Soita, Pirates’ captain, said.

Heathens’ Robert Seguya however countered: “Our plan is to lift the three titles this season and so far we have one, Uganda Cup is our next target.”

In the other semifinal at the same venue on the same day, uganda telecom Kobs hosts Entebbe Mongers. The Mongers is the side that killed off Kobs title chances when they held them 7-all in the first round of the league. Kobs beat Nile 92-0 while Mongers eliminated Rhinos 31-17 in the quarterfinals.
