PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni will address Parliament in a special sitting today. According to deputy clerk in-charge of legislation Paul Wabwire, the President is scheduled meet MPs and staff at 2:00pm today.

However, the agenda of the meeting was not communicated.

Parliament’s public relation’s manager Hellen Kawesa said the President had written to the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Ssekandi, requesting the special meeting.

“Although I do not know the agenda, the Constitution gives the President powers to address Parliament on matters of national importance. He is not obliged to specify the topics,” she said.

When contacted, premier Apolo Nsibambi, who is the leader of government business in Parliament, declined to divulge the issues to be discussed, saying they are not relevant to the press.

Museveni last addressed Parliament in June when he delivered the State-of-the-Nation address, which he does every year.
