THE inaugural Super Eight Cup took a new twist yesterday with Express making a U-turn on their decision to pull out of the competition. The Red Eagles had withdrawn after their first opponents KCC pulled out.

THE inaugural Super Eight Cup took a new twist yesterday with Express making a U-turn on their decision to pull out of the competition. The Red Eagles had withdrawn after their first opponents KCC pulled out.
“Our decision was misinterpreted as a fight against FUFA. We don’t want to create political anxiety,†said Express official Kavuma Kabenge.
Kabenge however questioned the economic viability of the competition. “Do you know how much it takes to prepare a team?â€
He then warned that this would be the last time Express would engage in “non paying venturesâ€.
The four-day competition has cash prizes of sh2m for the winner, sh1.5m for the runner-up, sh1m and sh500,000 for the third and fourth teams respectively.
