ARUA Central Football Club has drawn a sh130m budget in its quest for an impressive show in their maiden Uganda Super League season.

“We’ve got the talent to match the giants. We want to ensure all other basics like players’ money, travel and medical requirements are also in place,” explained the club’s football director Bosco Dudu.

The club hopes to raise the money largely from their local fan base.

“This is the only Super League team in this region, so we are banking on the support of the entire West Nile region,” said Dudu.

One of the things the club’s leadership has learnt from the numerous clubs that have had brief stints in the top league is the importance of good management.
They have as a result put in place an exhaustive administrative structure.

It is headed by a chief executive officer. The post is held by Arua senior assistant CAO Martin Gwokto.Club patron is former member of parliament and ambassador Yoram Ajeani.

Beneath the CEO is a team manager, chairman marketing, director of football, treasurer, general secretary, and secretary for publicity, the players and coaches.

But the team’s biggest weapon is its playing staff. The bulk of the players have been together for seven years after starting out their careers in the Kampala Kids League.

Most of the players have invaluable exposure in the world famous Gothia and Tivoli tournaments in Sweden and Denmark that they helped Uganda win.

Leading the teenagers are midfielder Gift Ali and right winger Gadafi Muhammad, scorer of one of the goals that recently gave Uganda victory in the CECAFA U-17 Championship in Khartoum.

Arua’s worries in defence are lessened by the presence of agile Sijali Safi in between the posts. An influx of players from relegated Ediofe Hills FC has further boosted the team.

Arua cannot wait to roll. The initial September 19 kick-off date that had Arua taking on champions URA, had the hosts advertising massively only to be disappointed by a postponement.

“We were badly affected by the change. We had thoroughly rehearsed how to beat URA,” revealed Dudu warning that matches in Arua will be very tough for visitors.

Hoima FC, CRO, Masaka LC and Fire Masters are the other new Super League entrants. Mbale side CRO has just wound up a training tour of Kenya.
