OVER 150 guard jobs have been secured for Ugandans in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), by a local recruiting agency. According to the managing director of Two Niles Agency, a recruiting-for-export firm, Abdulrazak Hussein, the jobs are in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE and are on a three-year contract.
Hussein said the company had signed a contract with Securiguard Middle East in Abu Dhabi to initially supply them with 56 guards. “We have already selected 56 candidates and are now processing their visas and other requirements,†he said.
Once all is in place, they would be leaving before the end of this month, he added. Speaking at their offices on Sunset arcade in Kampala, Hussein said the candidates had completed “O†and “A†level education and had been certified by the ministries of foreign affairs and of education.
The agency boss added the process of recruiting other guards and getting them ready for travel to the UAE was ongoing. “After the departure of the 56, the company will take another 100 candidates under the same arrangement,†he said.
Hussein said his company had already sent 45 resumes to another Abu Dhabi security company, Sawaeed Certis, also for placements as guards. “When Sawaeed Certis approves the resumes of 45 candidates, we shall then submit the required documents and thereafter sign a contract with them,†hussein said.
Thereafter Two Niles Agency will start preparing the candidates for travel. All jobs carry a monthly salary of $770 which comes with free medical insurance, accommodation, transport and food.
Since 2005 when the Government launched labour export programmes in Uganda, Two Nile Agency has exported over 300 Ugandans to the Middle East countries and southern Sudan.
The company also recently recruited 300 drivers from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to work in the United Arab Emirates.
