PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has fulfilled his pledge of giving sh20m to Ngarama Catholic Church in Isingiro district. Museveni made the pledge last year at the burial of Vicky Kyaka Kyokuhirwa, the former Woman MP for Isingiro district, who died in a motor accident.

The money was handed over to the church leaders by the district Woman MP, Grace Byarugaba, on Sunday at the church. A thanks-giving service was held for James Kyaka, the husband of the late Vicky Kyaka.

Kyaka survived the accident and had been admitted at Mulago Hospital. He commended the medical staff of the hospital for the care they gave him after the accident.

“I was going to die if it wasn’t for the efforts of the staff of Mulago Hospital. I also thank the people who rushed to our rescue in Busega where we got the accident,” he said.

Museveni earlier this year honoured another pledge of sh390m to Ngarama Secondary School where his soldiers camped during the war in the 1980’s.

Last week at Lake View Hotel in Mbarara, the President also promised to support Rweiziringiro Technical School in Isingiro district following demands by Mbarara traders to turn the school into a technical institute.

The Bukanga MP, Nathan Byanyima (NRM), appealed to parents to support the universal primary education programme and take their children to boarding schools, saying it could help them perform better.
