THE Ministry of Health has said there are no new swine flu cases in Bushenyi. Swine flu was confirmed in eight students of Kitabi Seminary two weeks ago but no other confirmations have been made although some students had shown symptoms of the disease.

The head of disease surveillance in the ministry, Dr. Issa Makumbi, said the students who fled Kitabi Seminary had also been located and put under treatment as well as their contacts.

He said the second school Bishop Oganzi, was also free of swine flu.

Makumbi said all the students, teachers and the workers at the school had been put under treatment irrespective of any signs of the flu.

He said some of the students were failing to adhere to the doses but the medical team had put them under direct observed treatment.

Makumbi, also some people were mistaking the common flu, which has become rampant, for swine flu.

He explained that the common flu has erupted due to the cold weather.

Swine flu that broke out in April in Mexico has spread to all the continents.

It broke out in Uganda in July.

There have not been fatalities in Uganda, where 33 cases were confirmed or in sub-saharan although deaths were reported on other continents.
