Kusuro, golf team in for USPA award

LONG distance athlete Geoffrey Kusuro is to battle the national golf and volleyball teams for the uganda telecom-USPA accolade for the month of September.

LONG distance athlete Geoffrey Kusuro is to battle the national golf and volleyball teams for the uganda telecom-USPA accolade for the month of September when the sports journalists converge at Oasis Restaurant at Lugogo today.
The scribes’ association has short-listed Kusuro for the award for winning a gold medal at the World Mountain Running Championship in Italy during the month.
But the Uganda national golf team also comes as equal contenders for ending eight years drought in the East Africa Golf Challenge Cup they won for the first time since 2001. The Uganda team gathered 18.5 points ahead of Kenya (16 points) Burundi (10), Rwanda (9) and Tanzania (6.5).
Uganda’s national volleyball team won two silver medals and a bronze from the Kenya international beach volleyball championship held in Mombasa.
