FUFA presi¬dent Lawrence Mulindwa’s 20- man executive committee can take to the dance floor. Mbale District Football Association (MDFA) agitation for district executive committees to be part of the district assemblies that will elect delegates to the FUFA assembly consequently grants Mulindwa’s executives delegate status with a right to vote.

Initially, it was only representatives of division one and two clubs in each of the FUFA affiliated districts.

MDFA even secured a court injunction on Thursday blocking the electoral process of the district delegates before their petition in Mbale High court is resolved.

The case is likely to be withdrawn from court after a meeting chaired by Sports state minister and attended by FUFA presidential aspirant Godfrey Kwizera ruled that district executive committee members are eligible to vote at district level. Court granted the injunction hours after the minister had addressed similar isuues affecting Mbale.

The Returning Officer Patrick Okanya told Saturday Vision yesterday that the incumbent executive have made it to the FUFA assembly due next month.

“All the 20 FUFA executives are now delegates. Since district executive committee members are members of the district assemblies, the executives at national level are also delegates,” Okanya explained.

This was after Okanya’s election guidelines had relegated all the District Football Associations in the country and the FUFA executive members to observers contrary to their constitution.

However, the 90-day injunction issued by the Mbale High Court will stand unless FUFA and the MDFA formally agree to withdraw their case. The injunction follows an earlier one by Pro-line that ended out of court.
