- KAMPALA
President Yoweri Museveni has challenged the business community to undertake research and innovation in modern technologies in order to promote agro-industry linkages. In a statement read by Premier Prof. Apolo Nsibambi at the opening of the 17th Uganda International Trade Fair, Museveni cited areas such as cotton and textile industry, sugar, fishing, pharmaceuticals and oil processing as potential investment areas. The President also urged visitors and the business community from other countries to work with the Uganda Manufacturers Association and the Uganda Investment Authority to study what is on offer (raw materials) in agriculture and agro-processing.

NIC listing delays again
- KAMPALA
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has extended the initial public offer (IPO) of the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) to allow for full disclosure in the prospectus. This follows a request from the Privatisation Unit for the IPO to be put off for a while. “CMA has no objection to the extension requested. It is important to note that whatever extension is granted should not be more than 90 days from the days of the prospectus,” read the CMA letter dated September 30.

Coin shortage hits motorists
- KAMPALA
Coin money shortage has affected the use parking meters in various streets in Kampala city. The streets are managed by Multiplex. The machines only accept coins of sh100, sh200 and sh500 denominations.
