HEATHENS will take on Pirates in Uganda’s first rugby Super Cup in Entebbe next month.

The annual match pits the league champions against the Uganda Cup holders.

Since MTN Heathens won the double, Uganda Rugby Union chose league runners-up G4S Pirates as the champions’ opponents.

Heathens drew 16-16 with favourites utl Kobs in the league’s decisive match to emerge supreme on superior points.

The November encounter however presents an opportune moment for Pirates to hit back.

Heathens beat Pirates 21-12 in the semi-finals before whipping arch-rivals Kobs 44-5 in the cup final.

Pirates coach Brian Makalama is anxiously awaiting the encounter.

“We shall definitely be ready by for Heathens by November. They’ve defeated us twice this season. We can’t afford to go down a third time.”

His emphasis will be on concentration and line outs that let them down in the defeats to Heathens.

“We respect Pirates, but we want to have a clean sweep this season,” Heathens assistant coach Peter Magona vowed.
