COLONEL Jackson ‘Bell’ Tushabe is pessimistic about smooth progress of the Uganda Super League without a sponsor and the court battles.

COLONEL Jackson ‘Bell’ Tushabe is pessimistic about smooth progress of the Uganda Super League without a sponsor and the court battles, reports Swalley Kenyi.

Tushabe, who is the chairman of FUFA competitions, super clubs umbrella body SDCA and super league side Victors FC said that the federation and clubs need to secure sponsors as soon as possible to support their operations.

SC Villa has been the only league side with a sponsor, uganda telecom for last season.

Other clubs like KCC, Police, Simba (UPDF), Iganga, Masaka LC, URA, Kinyara and Maji all depend on their mother companies for sponsorship but Tushabe fears that the league would backtrack to the past days where clubs skipped some games citing financial reasons.

“The league has kicked off very well but it would have been better without problems in court. If we are not disorganised again slowly we shall pick up,” Tushabe said yesterday.

But he added that FUFA and the super league clubs need not relax over the search for sponsors to maintain competitiveness in Uganda’s top flight league.
