CLASHES between neighbours Uganda and Rwanda have never been short on nerve and drama. And today’s crunch U-20 Women World Cup qualifying fixture could prove no exception.

Approximately five years ago, Uganda’s humiliating 1-0 Nations Cup qualifying defeat to Rwandain sparked sparked off unprecedented celebrations in Kigali, leaving Uganda traumatized and looking for every opportunity of revenge in future.
U-20 youngsters Habiba Namalwa and Hadijja Nampijja might have been young then and had no idea of the intensity of the rivalry between the two.

Today, the striking pair will lead an assault in search of revenge on behalf of their male senior counterparts when they engage Rwanda at Nakivubo stadium.

Namalwa’s, skillful ball work and perfect bond with twin striker Nampijja has handed her the attacking mantle after impressing the team’s coaching staff in training.

The multi-talented goal-grabber had to be rushed through a late fitness test, which she passed with flying colours.

Uganda hopes to use the qualifier to prove how much talent it possesses.
With her favourite 4-4-2 formation, head coach Majidah Nantanda will throw caution to the windas the home side will look towards snatching an early goal.

“I know they have some Ugandan born players but we shall play our game.
“We are going to excite our fans,” Nantanda said yesterday.

Nantanda’s outfit will also need to pace up the game to take advantage of their slow-paced and cautious opponents.

Probable line-up:

A.Nanyonga, C.Wanyana, S.Nantege, G.Nakitto, Z.Namukasa, R.Nakirija, A.Kaggwa, R.Kivumbi, D.Nakato, H.Namalwa, H.Nampijja
