LEAGUE champions URA and Cup holders SC Villa fought out a goalless draw at Namboole, as Bunamwaya’s Tony Odur missed a penalty after 75 minutes, for his side to draw goalless with visiting Police at Nakivubo.

In the same vein, Uganda Super League matches involving Victors and Nalubaale (Kakindu) and Iganga versus Maji at Saza ground ended goalless.

But at Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku, Express’ new signing Noah Ssemakula scored a hat trick as the home side beat Boroboro Tigers 3-0.

The URA side who had just lost to Nalubaale in their mid-week encounter, were still a shadow of themselves. They have defender Sam Mubiru and goalkeeper Mulindwa Muwonge to thank for the good saves and interceptions that saw them bag a point against the Jogoos.

Mulindwa parried away Dennis Guma’s header off a Simeon Masaba free kick and moved in time to save from Simon Sserunkuma. He was again called upon to punch away Nigerian Jonathan Aigbe’s shot in the closing stages of the game.

URA coach Moses Basena was not amused about the performance: “We have so many injuries but failing to get a realistic shot at goal is unacceptable. It will be a talking point at training.”

His counterpart Sula Kato was hurt by the missed chances.

“We played well, we had enough shots on goal. Our problem is to convert these chances.”

Nalubaale, who stopped champions URA in their last encounter, held Victors to another goalless draw, while Fire Masters proved they would be no pushovers with a 2-1 home win over fellow new entrants Hoima.

And after registering a home win over Victors in Mbale, coach Frank Anyau says CRO are ready to take on KCC with confidence.

He has predicted a tight run for the title and is targetting at least a point today.
