Fugitive URA Man Charged

ONE of the five Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) officers who has been on the run over causing a financial loss of sh730m was yesterday charged and remanded in Luzira Prisons.

ONE of the five Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) officers who has been on the run over causing a financial loss of sh730m was yesterday charged and remanded in Luzira Prisons.

Hillary Kiirya reports that David K. Mugomba, 47, in the company of his lawyer, Blaze Babigumira, turned himself in to Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Susan Kanyange.

He denied the charges and was remanded until July 28 when the case comes up for mention.

The other suspects, James Malinzi, Ogwapus Namugwanya and James Yafeho, are still on the run. They have reportedly abandoned their offices following a Police hunt.

Mugomba is jointly charged with Evelyn Nyakato, an assistant commissioner, Immaculate Lugolobi, Jonathan Kyamanya, Hassan Kakooza, Robert Karemire, Charles Enenu, and Christine Winyi.
