MOROTO district authorities have interdicted three officials of the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) over the misappropriating farm inputs.

The chief administrative officer, Stephen Ouma, asked the officials, who are coordinators at sub-county level, to vacate office pending investigations.

The officials were James Olinga of Nadunget, Paul Obore Omunuk of Katikekile and Andrew Tikol of Irriri sub-counties.

In a letter of October 14, Ouma said several hoes and seeds supplied by the Government disappeared under the supervision of the officials.

Ouma said the officials had been arrested by the Police although district authorities were not yet aware.

It is alleged that between May and June this year, the officials sold hoes and seeds supplied during a campaign on food security in Karamoja.

Meanwhile, the state minister for Karamoja Affairs, Janet Museveni, discovered that NAADS officials in Kaabong district had mismanaged funds amounting to sh122m meant for projects in the 2008/2009 financial year.

This was during her tour of the region to assess the performance of government programmes.
