HE said that Mountain Dew Falcons would begin to show their true character after they went 2-0 down to the Kyambogo Warriors in their best-of-five MTN-FUBA playoff semi-final series.

At the moment, his warning was to be expected, after all, Isaac Lugudde is a man with an excess supply of self-assurance.

However on Saturday, Lugudde proved his threat was real, scoring a game-high 26 points to help Falcons beat Warriors 87-77 in game three of the bruising series.

“I told you,” Luggudde bragged after the match.

“This is not over, we are winning this (series)”.

Warriors still have two chances to win this series but one wouldn’t know it listening to the shooter-guard.

For the Falcons, they have a more diplomatic voice for a team-leader and his take on the team’s victory was more holistic.

“The team had to dig deep for this win,” Falcons coach player Steven Omony said.

“As a team, we had to work hard tonight.”

Besides bossing this contest, Omony sunk 24 points to help the record nation men’s champions overcome the absence of Henry Malinga and evoke memories of 2007, when Falcons overturned a 2-0 deficit to defeat Warriors 3-2 in the playoff finals.

Gad Etau’s side will be under pressure to avoid being embarrassed again and they will hope that Abdullah Ramadan and Martin Okwako can be the difference this time.

The pair joined the club in mid-season and may not be fazed by any past history between the two giants.

Little wonder, Ramadan and Okwako netted a team-high 18 and 17 points respectively on Saturday.

Warriors veteran and linchpin Ronnie Kasewu will also be critical going forward, as his 18 points showed in the closely contest match.
