OLYMPIAN Ronald Serugo has been summoned to the Bombers boxing squad for the President's Cup in Taipei, China next month.

OLYMPIAN Ronald Serugo has been summoned to the Bombers boxing squad for the President's Cup in Taipei, China next month.

The light flyweight is part of 22 boxers who started non-residential training at Lugogo yesterday.

The President’s Cup, due on December 3-14, will be the Bombers first international tournament in two years.

Serugo, who took part in the World Championship recently, will battle against Geoffrey Mubiru (East Coast) and Joseph Kalema (COBP) for a place in the final team.

The squad that was named after the national trials is handled by coach Dick Katende and Charles Lubulwa.

According to the local boxing federation president Godfrey Nyakana, the squad is a foundation for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India.

Full squad: R. Serugo, G. Mubiru, J. Kalema(l/flyweight), A. Lukwago, A. Nzahere (flyweight), A. Mgerwa, S. Segawa (bantam), K. Sakku, S. Mukasa, T. Mukiibi and J. B Kato (lightweight).

Others are H. Mugarula, R. Seruma, (l/welter), S. Wandera, H. Semakula (welter), S. Agaba, M. Kulabako (middleweight), C. Komakech, S. Matovu (l/heavy), T. Sekabira, S. Geko (heavyweight), H. Muhumuza and M. Sekabembe (super heavy).
