A man in Tororo district attacked his father and cut off his arm.
Ben okware, 45, attacked Luke Oweri last Thursday at their home in Magoola sub-county. Okware accused his father and step-mother, Florence Nyafwono, of insulting his wife, Evelyn Awinjo and reportedly threatening to kill her.
Residents managed to disarm Okware and handed him over to Tororo Central Police Station. The acting district Police commander, Aggrey Isabirye, on Friday said Okware would be charged with attempted murder.
Speaking to The New Vision, Oweri said his son was aiming for his head but he dodged the panga, shielding himself with his hand, which was severed off.
“I saw my left palm drop on the ground,†Oweri said. Dr. David Obonyo, who attended to the victim at Tororo Hospital, said Oweri had to be operated on to stop the bleeding.
Neighbours said Nyafwono often had misunderstandings with her daughter-in-law, which would result into quarells.
