WINNERS of this weekend’s Broadband Rugby Sevens will take home sh1m, runners-up sh0.5m and best player sh0.15m.

The Broadband rugby sevens final leg will be played at Kyadondo club, with MTN Heathens already assured of sh1m. Heathens have an unassailable lead at the top of the table with 60 points having won the circuits at Kyadondo, Kampala and Jinja.

Hima Impis have 40 points, utl Kobs (32) and G4S Pirates (26).

According to the country rugby manager Jacob Bukenya, the cash prize has been introduced by the sports’ governing body URU to motivate the winners.

“We have managed to secure that little, but expect to review it with our sponsors Broadband next season to make it bigger,” Bukenya said.

Heathens are pooled against Summerkamp and Saracens in pool A while Impis will face Entebbe Mongers and MUBS in pool B.

Kobs play Rams and Nile in pool C and G4S Pirates will take on Toyota buffaloes and UCU Mukono.
