All the subsequent energy bills will carry the correct address

Yesterday, a UMEME customer wrote a letter complaining about getting a wrong bill and wondering why UMEME still issues estimated bills.
Yesterday, a UMEME customer wrote a letter complaining about getting a wrong bill and wondering why UMEME still issues estimated bills.
We apologise for the inconvenience our dear customer has experienced. We also apologise for the erroneous address on the client’s bill. This has been corrected and any subsequent bills will carry the correct street name.
Regarding the estimation of consumption, a premise will be billed on estimate where UMEME is unable to get a correct meter reading in time for bill generation. When meters are read, the readings are subject to a validation process before they are billed. Where they do not meet the parameters, an estimate based on the previous consumption on actual readings is applied as an estimate.
Analysis of account 200079464 shows that with the exception of August and October bills, this account has consistently been billed against actual readings. Further still, the estimate bill generated in October 2009 was corrected with an actual reading of 49323 picked on October 20 once this had been verified.
On average, the customer uses power worth sh130,000 per month. On a similar note, bill no. 190237558 was generated on October 29 implying that all payments made after that date can only be reflected on the subsequent bill. We did receive the customer payments of sh192,000 made on November 13, but this was made after the bill had been generated and will therefore be reflected on the November invoice.
All this notwithstanding, we apologise for the poor reception at our Banda office.
The Umeme management has taken note of the shortfalls in service delivery and is currently streamlining this through staff training exercises and fresh recruitment. We appreciate our customers’ support as we strive to achieve quality service delivery.
