I congratulate people with disabilities (PWDs) upon the celebration of their day on December 1. I wish them the best throughout the remaining year. I am sincerely grateful to the management of Ankole Coffee Processors Ltd in Ibanda for their great spirit towards PWDs by employing them in their factory, among many other noble gestures.

The factory management, headed by Hannington Karuhanga, and Jessey Daawa, has taken a step in the right direction.

This is a demonstration that people with disabilities are as able as other people, if put in the right position. Ankole Coffee has employed Nuwagaba, a deaf man aged 30, as a casual labourer at the factory and a lame man, Stephen who buys coffee from farmers.
Ankole Coffee Processors also went an extra mile and began a credit scheme within the factory where people with business acumen but hindered by capital constraints will not weep any more.

This scheme has greatly helped the employees, especially those with disabilities who have few avenues of generating income. The disabled can borrow money, buy coffee and sell it and be able to pay back. Once again, I wish to thank the management of Ankole Coffee Processors for their great attitude. Other employers should follow suit.
