THE south-western regional Rapid Response Unit has arrested three people suspected of killing a bodaboda cyclist and throwing his body in a pit-latrine.

Patrick Twinamatsiko of Rwashamaire stage in Ntungamo district is said to have been killed by the suspects, who took his motorcycle.

The south-western regional Police commander, Alfarouk Muyirima, identified the suspects as Tadeo Mbabazi, 30, Darius Ainembabazi alias Asiimwe, 20 and his brother Herbert Byaruhanga, 23, all residents of Kakiri village, Ngoma sub-county in Ntungamo district.

Twinamatsiko was hacked to death and his body thrown the into pit-latrine of Samuel Rutahweire, the father of Ainembabazi and Byaruhanga.

Muyirima said Twinamatsiko’s motorcycle was recovered from a house shared by the two brothers.

“Twinamatisko was hired by Ainembabazi, who operates a salon in Rwashamaire town to take him home. When Ainembabazi reached home, he invited Twinomujuni into his house, where he chopped him to death,” Muyirima narrated.

He added that after bodaboda riders heard of the death of their colleague, they invaded Rutahweire’s home and burnt his houses. They also killed his cows, goats, pigs and birds.

“They wanted to lynch the suspects but they were over-powered by the Police,” Muyirima said, adding that the suspects would be charged with murder.
