WOBULENZI town council authorities in Luweero district are stranded with an eight-year-old girl, after her father was remanded for allegedly defiling her, leaving her alone in their single-room rented house.

Richard Mabiriizi, a carpenter, was arrested on November 15, following complaints by his eight-year-old daughter who accused him of defiling her.
Mabiriizi, who is on remand at Butuntumula Prison in Luweero, charged with incest.

The LC3 councillor for Kikoma parish, Margaret Sentamu, who is temporarily keeping the girl at her home, took her to Wobulenzi town council offices, complaining that she lacked means to look after her.

Sentamu said the girl, who is in Primary Two at Wobulenzi Public School, stayed with her father, who recently came to the area after separating with her mother.

The girl wore a tattered dress and torn canvas shoes.
The Wobulenzi town clerk, Joseph Sebidde, said the council had no budget to cater for the child.
