UGANDA’S recent performance in the Twenty20 international friendly game against Kenya has excited the international cricket body, ICC, with an invitation for an ‘all expenses paid tour’ in a Tri-Nations Twenty20 encounter.

According to national team manager Justine Ligyalingi, Uganda will play against hosts Kenya and Scotland in the encounter due January 29 – February 4.

“ICC was impressed by our game and they invited us to compete. They will pay for the air tickets and cater for the team’s upkeep in Kenya,” said Ligyalingi about the communication from International Cricket Council.

Early this month, Uganda won two Twenty20 internationals against Kenya, but failed to relive the celebrations in the One Day version, losing all their three outings.

Kenya and Scotland are preparing for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup qualifiers due in the United Arab Emirates in February next year.

Meanwhile, the national team resumes training on Monday in preparation for the ICC Inter Continental shield tie against the United Arab Emirates. It is a must-win for Uganda in order to ease the pressure of qualifying for the finals.
