AMID jubilation and ululation, two women born to a Ugandan in Kenya on Saturday met their family, a reunion they described as a fulfillment of their wish.

Sarah Naliaka Kayanja and Linete Nekesa Kayanja’s journey to Namugongo, a city suburb, started in Kanduyi in Kenya’s Western Province where they reside.

The duo, accompanied by Nekesa’s husband, Ronald Wamukote and Cousin Wanaswa Wanasilwa, disembarked from a commuter taxi at Seeta, a city suburb at 4:00pm. Excited, they ran into the arms of their uncle, Alex Kabenge who drove them to meet their relatives in Namugongo.

Relatives, who waited anxiously, surrounded the vehicle even before Kabenge parked.

And when Naliaka, a born- again Christian got out, she raised her hands in the air and started singing in Swahili.

“Thank you Lord,” she said as she knelt and led the others in a brief prayer, thanking the Lord for leading them to their family.

The team that included Nekesa’s one-year-old son was then led to a tent where a sumptuous lunch was served.
Naliaka, a primary school teacher, was all smiles and kept thanking God for responding to her prayers.

“I feel so good. I have found the missing link in my life. Last October I prayed to God about it and I even fasted,” she said as Nekesa added: “I am relieved and relaxed.”

The sisters thanked The New Vision for breaking their story about two weeks ago. Their uncle, who resides in South Africa, called them when he read the story online.

“We would not be here were it not for The New Vision. May God bless the employees and the company,” Nekesa noted.

Later in the night, Kabenge told the sisters that their father, Mathias Ssemalulu Gitta Kayanja passed on 2002. The fact was not disclosed to the sister before they made the journey to Kampala.

Kabenge said the news shocked them. The sisters also prayed at the burial grounds where their father was laid to rest. Naliaka and Nekesa were yesterday set to return to Kenya.
