THE clergy have been urged to
exercise integrity. The call was made by the Rev. Can. Eriya Paul Luzinda during the installation ceremony of new canons at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe in Jinja district on Sunday.

Three reverends were installed canons.

They are James Katalo, Ezekiel Nyende and Stephen Moses Ibanda.

Ibanda is also the chairman of the House of Clergy in Busoga Diocese and a lecturer at Uganda Christian University, Mukono.

Bishop Michael Kyomya presided over the ceremony, which was attended by the Inspector General of Government, Faith Mwondha, MPs, scholars and residents.

Luzinda urged the canons to perform their duties diligently, with sound mind and warned them of the dangers of pride.

“You must know that our greatest enemy, Satan, is at work. Having got new titles, you might become arrogant,” he counselled.

Kyomya inaugurated a new modern pulpit, which was donated by the deputy speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, new uniforms for the choir and pews.

He thanked the Christians for the donations.
