SC Villa’s 1-0 defeat to Express FC in the first round of the Uganda Super League is still fresh in memories of the Jogoos head coach Sula Kato.

He will be out to prove to the fans that they did not deserve to lose the game to their arch rivals.

The arch rivals clash in a Kakungulu Cup quarterfinal tie at Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku today and the former Cranes international turned coach wants to put the record clear.

When Express hosted Villa in the league first round match, the Red Eagles claimed maximum points with a contested winner.
But the Jogoos insist the ball did not cross the line.

“They won the points but they didn’t defeat us because the goal did not cross the line,” Kato, who emphasised team spirit at their last training yesterday said.

“Fans should come and see it for themselves tomorrow (today).”
His top marksman Emma Okwi returns to hunt for the goals alongside Geoffrey Luutu, while Augustine Nsumba will closely follow the frontmen.

Okwi had been doubtful for the match but Kato was relieved when the player passed a late fitness test yesterday.

Villa is meeting The Red Eagles for the first time in the event since 2002 when the Jogoos prevailed over their rivals 2-1 in the final at Nakivubo.

But Express’ veteran coach David Otti believes there is nothing exciting about it tactically.
“I can’t give you my line-up but there is going to be no difference in the approach,” Otti remarked.

“But we should be better because I have no injuries and we are playing at home.”

Villa beat Sharing FC while Express battled Mbarara United in a penalty shootout to book the quarterfinal places.

In the other quarterfinal clash Simba entertain Bunamwaya at their Bombo stadium in a clash of egos between coaches Sam Ssimbwa and Jackson Mayanja (Bunamwaya).

The two men know each other well as Cranes’ assistant coaches and having played together before in Kampala City Council football club.
Bunnamwaya invaded and beat Simba 1-0 at their own fortress during the first round of the league.
Maroons host URA in Luzira in the other game.

The match between Police and holders Victors has been put off because of latter’s Confederation Cup tie.
