Rwenzori in sh271 fundraising drive

Rwenzori Diocese has kicked off a drive to raise sh271m for the consecration of the bishop-elect, the Rev. Canon Patrick Kyaligonza.

Rwenzori Diocese has kicked off a drive to raise sh271m for the consecration of the bishop-elect, the Rev. Canon Patrick Kyaligonza.

Kyaligonza will be enthroned as the fifth bishop of Rwenzori Diocese at St. John’s Cathedral in Fort Portal on Sunday.

Constantine Karusoke, the coordinator of the organising committee, said two committees have been set up in Kampala and Fort Portal to spearhead the fundraising and organisation of the ceremony. He said the ceremony would be presided over by the Archbishop, Henry Luke Orombi.

Karusoke appealed to members of Ruwenzori Diocese in Kampala, Entebbe and Jinja as well as friends and well wishers to contribute towards the function.

Donors can also contact the organising committee chairperson who is also the general duties minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Adolf Mwesige, on 077-2638782, committee treasurer James Katarihwa on 077-2500188 and Karusoke on 077-2362924.

Kyaligonza, 45, will replace retiring bishop Benezeri Kisembo.

Meanwhile, the House of Bishops will meet at Kasunga Training Centre in Kabarole district on Saturday to elect new bishops for Namirembe Diocese and the recently-created East Rwenzori Diocese in Kamwenge.
