UGANDA’S impressive performances at the ICC Division 3 World Cricket league in Argentina could help Dr. Kato Sebbaale re-claim his seat as President of the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA).

Sebbaale, who has been at the helm of the body for the last one year, is the only candidate to have shown interest in the seat in the run upto today’s annual elective assembly at Lugogo.

But there are already indications that the cricket fraternity will decide reward Sebbaale, who contributed to the cricket team’s qualification to the ICC World Cricket Cup qualifiers that are due in South Africa in April.

Sebbaale beat incumbent William Kibuuka Musoke by two votes during the hotly contested elections last year.

“There is no one who has shown interest but the cricket fraternity was of the view that there should be continuation. There are many unfinished programmes,” federation Public Relations Officer Latimer Mukasa said ahead of the polls.

Sebbaale, has already triggered development and intensified competition in both schools and girls tournaments.

“This is the only way we can get cricketers. It’s the backbone of cricket and if it’s not strong, then we will not have future cricketers,” Sebbaale reasoned yesterday.
