Operatives kill armed thug

TORORO - An armed thug was recently shot dead by Rapid Response Unit operatives at Paya. A sub-machine gun and ammunition were recovered from the thug after a fierce fire exchange in the bushes. The resident district commissioner, Mpimbaza Hashaka, said Moses Ofwono was netted after a tip-off from residents who said he was part of a gang that had been terrorising them for a long time. The operatives told the press that they had planned to interrogate Ofwono about a gun that he was suspected to own. However, when the suspect got wind of the plan to interrogate him, he reportedly vanished before the operatives reached his home. Different items suspected to have been stolen were recovered from his house. Ofwono and his gang had before the shoot-out robbed a resident of sh400,000 meant for his struggling business.
