WHEN former domestic league sponsors GTV folded two months ago, much was said of how the league would struggle financially and on the competitive front.

Three weeks down the road, the signs are that not even the collapse of GTV will ruin what is
fast-becoming the most competitive race for the title in recent seasons.
With over two thirds of the season gone, six sides make their league engagements today, convinced that the title will be decided by the most consistent and resilient team.

Five points separate fifth-placed Simba from leaders Villa, who need not to be reminded of what a win in Bugerere could do to their title aspirations. Villa will leave no room for error for the fixture.

“These lower division sides are battling relegation so it will demand a lot from us,” Villa coach Sula Kato stated.

The Jogoos are riding high on confidence and belief, since last week, when their landmark 2-1 win on the road over Kakira guaranteed them top spot ahead of KCC, who slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Maji.

Coach George Nsimbe’s charges at KCC are clearly not comfortable with the 4-3-3 formation. Their march to a first league title in 10 years last season owed much to to the work rate within a 4-4-2 system.

It had been believed that the league champions would be invincible this season if Brian Umony and Robert Sentongo replicated the attacking form that helped them to a combined 32 goals last season.
