I found Prossy already seated and said she had been anxiously waiting for me. I apologised for coming late. I asked if she spoke Luganda but she said the only local language she speaks is Lusongora.

“How does it sound like?” I asked.
“It’s like Runyankole,” she said.
But when she spoke, I realised it was more like Rutoro. When the waitress came for our order, Prossy said she would eat whatever I chose. We enjoyed pork ribs.

She said I was smart and handsome. She wondered why I did not have a girlfriend. “Sometimes it happens that people choose to remain single,” I answered.

As we chatted, her young sister called and she told her: “I have met a guy whom I like. Please say ‘hi’ to him.” As we parted, I gave her a hug. I called her later to find out if she arrived safely.

Have you communicated again?
Yes, she called to find out when we could come together for the interview.

What attributes did you see in her?
She lost her father and now owns a business. For a young lady, that is commendable. I like the way she handles her independence.

What about physically?
She is a beautiful lady except that she is short.

What did you enjoy most?
Her compliments; some people are so mean that they will hold back their feelings. It’s not often that we get people complimenting us.

Older men dating young girls

When Dan arrived, he complimented me, saying I was smart and beautiful. I also told him he was smart and handsome. He said he liked my name ‘Natukunda’ because it means ‘love’. It was a coincidence that we come from the same region.

He is from Nyabushozi in Mbarara while I come from Kasese. We discovered that we were both single and searching. He asked if I was ready to be his girlfriend but I told him I needed time.

He promised to take me out at a bar where his sister works.
I told him I went to Ggaba Beach to watch the Amarula Family on Valentine’s Day.
As we parted company, he asked for a kiss but I declined, saying I couldn’t do that on the first date. He said: “I love you from the bottom of my heart.” I also told him the same.

Does that mean you are ready to be his girlfriend?
It will depend on how serious he will be. He said he would take me out one day.

How will you gauge his seriousness?
I’ll note the frequency of his calls; if they are three to four everyday, I’ll know he’s in love with me.

What about if he doesn’t call?
I’ll leave him alone. I may like him but I can’t show him that I’m desperate.

What impressed you about him?
He is a charming guy, with a chocolate complexion. I tested him by leaving my bag, wallet and phone, as I went to the ladies, but he left them intact.
