BRIAN Umony scooped a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree yesterday and stated: “I can now become the complete football star I have always wanted to be’

The Cranes and KCC FC star striker was among the hundreds that graduated at the Kyambogo University grounds —and his degree is the latest in a series of landmark achievements for the 22-year-old in the last nine months.

In just his first season in the top-flight, Umony finished the league as joint top scorer with 15 goals in May last year to help KCC FC claim their first league title in 11 years.

In September, he won the first ever Nile Special Footballer of the year award and three months later, won the golden boot award as 2008 CECAFA top scorer with 5 goals after scoring the winning goal in the final against Kenya to hand Uganda their record 10th title after 5 years of waiting.

Umony has clearly achieved more than most Ugandan footballers in their entire careers.

“From the heavens where my mum is, she must be smiling,” the 22-year-old orphan, stated.
