EDITOR—Your article titled: “Uganda’s Best A’level Teachers,” published in The Sunday Vision of February 28, is not only a good innovation, but a clear tribute to the efforts made by teachers in imparting knowledge and skills in our youth.

EDITOR—Your article titled: “Uganda’s Best A’level Teachers,” published in The Sunday Vision of February 28, is not only a good innovation, but a clear tribute to the efforts made by teachers in imparting knowledge and skills in our youth.

Your observation: “Behind every successful academic performance, is a hard working teacher,” is indeed, starkly correct.

Unlike the coverage of PLE, UCE and UACE results, this article captured the experiences of teachers, which enabled them to make their students pass. Other teachers, school administrators and parents should learn from the story about the factors that enable students to excel.

The article is also likely to provide all education stakeholders with new insights into teaching methods, student-teacher interaction, learning strategies and management of large classes. It would perhaps be important for teachers to conduct regular seminars to sensitise each other with issues relevant to improving educational performance.
