THE last time we heard from Qute Kaye was when he collaborated with Priscilla Kalibala on Gyetwasokera, two years ago. Kaye, who made ladies swoon with his silky, yet forceful tenor, has since been quiet and many were wondering what his next move was.

But if you thought Kaye had fizzled out of the limelight, think again. “It is not a matter of singing for the sake of it. I mind a lot about what I sing and that’s why it takes me quite some time to release a new song.

My voice is not going anywhere, so why the rush?,” he says. “To quantify the timeline required for discovering your voice is as functional as protecting a lion from its prey. I always wait for my voice to find me.

I feel its presence looming close yet remaining at bay until the moment is right,” he adds.

Now, Kaye is back with another impressive nine-track album titled Nyumirwa Obulamu (Enjoy Life), which has hits like Situka (Get Up), which features Iryn Namubiru.

Situka, the title track, has the kind of beat that will move you even before Kaye’s vocals kick in. And the song gets more captivating when Kaye’s sweet voice sets in.

Nyumirwa Obulamu talks about how the singer is living life to the full, courtesy of his newfound love. And this is perhaps the most exciting moment on this album.

It is the same story with Mujje Mulabe (Come and See), in which the singer brags about his new beautiful lover.
But unlike his previous project, this one is loaded with seven collaborations.

The listener is faced with guest spots from Iryn Namubiru (Situka), Hemdee Kiwanuka (This Girl), Eagles Productions’ Haruna Mubiru (Mbirese), Rachael Kiwanuka (Today is the Day), Red Banton (Sente), Kid Fox (Muzudde) and banker-cum singer, Hindu (Ndaga).
